cross-disciplinary student group focused on biotech and capital markets

Biotech and Finance club was founded by Hayden Herstrom in collaboration with Andrew Peterson and Henry Likness. The club originated out of the joint analysis of biotech company Anavex Life Sciences and the misadventures of their drug, blarcamesine. We realized there was no club on campus for pharamceutical research with the end goal of taking positions in financial markets, so we decided to start the club.
In addition to investigating biotech candidate drugs, we also hosted speakers, visited local companies, and gave presentations on things that interest us.

UEL 1
Photo from our tour of University Enterprise Laboratories (UEL) in Minneapolis. This was a great opportunity to see the local biotech ecosystem and learn about the research happening in the Twin Cities.

UEL 2
Another photo from our UEL event. We later had the chance to volunteer at the 25th Anniversary of UEL, which was a great networking opportunity.

Harvey
Harvey Arbit, a former professor and retired pharmacist, gave a presentation to the club on the role of regulatory affairs in drug development. We were tremendously grateful to learn from someone so experienced.
